Redefining Light: The Nina Project
In 2002, RCA London graduate Admir Jukanovic challenged how the world saw the newly introduced 1W white LED. While others simply placed the new technology into old fixtures, Jukanovic embraced miniaturization to create something entirely new.
By removing the heat sink and running the LEDs at 30%, he supported the lights using only metal wires and heat-shrink tubing. This radical design language resulted in the Mina luminaire, which quickly caught the eye of Sir Terence Conran at the RCA graduate show.
Manufactured by Noon Balrdelona the Mina was recognized internationally as the “Best Spanish Luminaire” by Elle.
